Lying down comfortably, you’ll be invited to soften into stillness, bringing attention to the breath and different parts of the body. Ensure you create a warm, quiet environment with low lighting or an eye pillow to amplify the sense of safety and comfort, allowing your system to drop into a state of profound rest. As you move through the stages of Yoga Nidra, the brain naturally shifts from active beta waves into slower alpha and theta states. These states are linked with deep relaxation, creativity, emotional processing and nervous system regulation. This gentle drop in brainwave activity helps reduce anxiety, lower stress hormones, and release the internal “grip” of tension.
